NEED HELP PAYING FOR YOUR ABORTION?

The REACH Fund of Connecticut does not make direct grants to individuals.

Instead, we work directly with abortion providers in CT to provide financial assistance for patients who cannot afford the entire cost of their abortion.

REACH is a funding source that providers can turn to when a patient needs help paying for their abortion. The provider applies REACH funding to the patient’s abortion cost, and then bills REACH directly for the financial assistance.

The REACH Fund of Connecticut works directly with abortion providers to provide funding for patients’ abortion care.
REACH works only with providers that operate in states where abortion is legal, and will only provide financial or practical support for abortions that, to the best of its knowledge, are lawful.

If you need financial help for your abortion:

1. Make an appointment with one of the providers that has a funding agreement with us:

Planned Parenthood of S. New England (CT Locations) - 800-230-7526

Hartford GYN Center - 860-525-1900

Abortion on Demand (medication abortion via telehealth)

carafem (medication abortion via telehealth)

If you are a CT resident seeking abortion care outside CT and need help paying for your abortion, please speak directly with your provider. They will contact us and we will arrange any financial assistance directly with them.

2. During intake, the provider will work with you to determine if you have insurance coverage for your abortion. They will then tell you the amount that you are responsible for.

If you are eligible for CT Medicaid (HUSKY), the provider will help you enroll. HUSKY covers abortion 100% at Connecticut-located clinics (Planned Parenthood and Hartford GYN Center).

Telehealth providers typically do NOT accept insurance or Medicaid - please check with your telehealth provider directly to confirm their insurance policy.

3. If you cannot afford the whole out-of-pocket cost of the abortion, the provider can apply REACH funds (subject to availability) to lower that cost*.

4. The provider will bill REACH directly for our share of your abortion. No personal identifying information is shared with REACH.

*Due to limited resources, we will be unable to cover the entire cost of an abortion.
Your provider may be able to utilize other funding sources to further reduce your out-of-pocket cost.

Why we work directly with PROVIDERS instead of operating a hotline:

  • Working directly with providers removes a step for the patients and streamlines the process for them. They can make their appointment and receive financial help all in the same intake call.

  • By partnering with providers, we do not request or hold any identifying patient information in our systems. This limits the amount of places where personal information needs to be given and stored.
